Going Green #3; Sydney
It's always nice to pick up a momento when you go on holiday, and when Mark went to Paris he picked up some shoes that were set to change his taste in kicks.
He hadn't heard of Feiyue's before, but as soon as he saw these shoes from the French brand for the bargain price of $20 he knew that they were for him.
He loves the shoes so much that he has now gone on to also buy a yellow pair so that he can combine their practicality, classic design, comfort and colour to his monochrome look.
Now, don't forget our great Gravis comp closes at the end of play today. It's the luck of the draw for some lucky winners, so get your entries in the hat now by clicking on the competition button on the right. Good luck!

Going Green #2; Sydney
So I told you that the guys in Sydney had gone green shoe gaga, and here, from a galaxy far far away is another pair!
This pop-culture loving (I'm guessing from his shoe choice and Kick-Ass tshirt) sneaker lover was looking for shoes that represented his big, bold, colourful personality and in these Adidas Jabba The Hut's he feels that he has the perfect shoe. He was slightly embarrassed that the shoes were not as clean as he would like, but I like them in their broken in condition that work as well in downtown Sydney as they would in Tatooine (something for you Star Wars out there).

The Man
I spend a lot of time walking around looking for interesting shots, but there's 1 man who you will find out on the streets more than me. I've been observing his actions though, and 1 has got me thinking his behaviour isn't too appropriate.
Waiting... Cycling... and peeing?

Going Green #1; Sydney
The girls have been rocking the streets lately so I've been waiting for the guys to get back in the game, and it starts this week with a green theme. Have they been green with envy?
When it's the first day on a new job you always need to impress, and for this sneaker lover's first day at a new job he had dressed to impress with his beloved green Vans.
A Vans fan, he had picked these from his collection and hoped that their eye-catching colour would be a good omen for his new start.
Vans are a very popular shoe in Australia due to their low price point, colour varieties, and ability to work for all occasions.
Lets hope they worked well for this Van's Lovers' big occasion and his job went/is going well for him.

Electrofairy; Sydney
Perrie (aka Electrofairy) is a friend of my wive's who is currently enjoying an amazing around the world trip. As part of her journey she popped by to bring some of her great colourful stylings to Sydney, and was kind enough to pose for a few shots showing off her eclectic look.
Thanks for popping by Perrie, it was lovely to see you and we hope we get to see you again soon. x
Have a great weekend everyone.

Language Barrier; Sydney
The universal language of style has the power to bring us all together...but it doesn't always work.
This guys OTT street style caught my attention, but when I stopped him to talk about his fashion related thoughts, influences, and musings...it all got a bit tough!
Basically he didn't speak English, and I don't speak Thai so it was hard to get any real story although he was adamant that his shoes are Nike's. Best to just let the pictures do the talking.

Mirror Image; Sydney
Taky and Katy are currently on holiday in Sydney and while they're in town they are showing off their very, or should I make that VERY similar tastes.
It starts with their similar sounding names, and goes all the way through to their very footwear as they both wear Adidas kicks that are a mirror image of each others; Katy wears pink with white detailing, Taky wears white with pink detailing.
They were lots of fun and loved being shot for the site, but they made things slightly uncomfortable for me when they reflected things back at me and asked me to pose for a shot with them - one aspect of the mirror image that I didn't like!

Red Bull Wreckers Yard - Art Exhibition
Our good friends at Red Bull extended an invite to last night's Wreckers Yard Art Exhibition.
The campaign was a search for the best street artists from across Australia, and last night the colour and style of the street art scene descended on the Red Bull Gallery for a night of celebration.
The centrepieces of the evening where the winning pieces, as well as an impromptu wall mural that was put together in front of the guests.
The walls were not the only thing thing that caught my attention as the crowd had enough style and colour to make it a great night. The fun crowd were happy to pose for some party pics as they got into the swing of painting the town red (pun intended), of course all fuelled by Red Bull!

Slim Fit; Sydney
People often ask me how I spot people to appear on the site. Quite simply it's just from walking around, seeing an interesting style, look or attitude, it can literally come from anywhere. I thought I would show you how quickly it can happen so take a look at the pic below;
That was all I initially saw of this urban stylista, who was strutting his stuff through the Sydney commuters one morning.
Lee (who I eventually caught up with) had a lean street style with a UK feel. He is a Cons purist who only wears slim All Stars and he has a few pairs in white and black to cater for all occasions.
So there you go, it can all happen in the blink of an eye - be warned, I will be watching!

Old Age Approaches; Sydney
As they waited an OAP approached and I loved the metaphor that the pic suggests (hence the titled), plus the light and long shadows give the shot a great feel.

Squaring Up To The Night; Sydney
Owen is from Korea and loves bright, colourful and LOUD shoes.
He has a particular fondness for Nikes and shoes from the Canadian brand DSquared, which he was wearing when we met as he enjoyed some recent Sydney late night shopping.
As you can see from the pics the shoes are shockingly busy, with badges and bright colours turning a simple plimsoll into a full on attack of the senses.
Owen was an interesting character, quirky, with a desire to stand out, and this is another great example of a sneaker lover expressing who they are with their feet!

Gideon; Sydney
There's been a sneaker based buzz in Sydney after the opening of the new Bondi Gideon sneaker store. For those of you who are uninitiated, Gideon produce the first completely all-Australian made sneakers and their ethical business model, and clean stylings are causing quite a stir on the Aussie sneaker scene!
By combining hand-made premium shoes with an ethical fair trade business model, within a business model that see's profits going towards disadvantages kids, the brand are making some big statements. With bold styles, colourways, and a clear statement about fair trade in sneaker production there's is much to like about the brand, and you can find out more about them here.
The store features great shoes and also some great all-Australian ethically made apparel from brands including Asuza, an Australian contemporary menswear label with some pieces that caught my eye.

On Reflection; Sydney
I'm always on the look out for interesting people, shots, and images that capture an interesting insight into urban life.
These images don't always come in the way you would expect, and recently I've been experimenting with reflections - here's a few images that I hope you might like.

Multicolour Bargain; Sydney
Surely everyone loves a bargain?, and this sneaker lover picked up a bargain that still shocks her to this day.
She spotted these shoes at a market in Sydney, and was shocked that the seller was getting rid of these amazing Adidas women's mids for just $20. With the thought that the shoes demanded a more appreciative owner she snapped them up, and they instantly become the perfect accompaniment to her already colourful and eclectic look.
She is always on the look out for new and bold shoes (preferably with big tongues) and next on her list are some shoes from the Aussie brand Gideon who I will be telling you more about later this week!
