I met Lou in Sydney on her way home from a Body Jam class. I have to admit that I hadn't heard of Body Jam before, but she went on to tell me about her love for this fusion of exercise and dance that she started taking part in about 10 years ago back in Auckland, simply as a hobby.
The interesting thing for me is that this hobby started out as just that, a hobby, but now it's an integral part of her life that's even affecting what she wears.
She stated that she would never have worn Hi Tops before getting into Body Jam, but now they make her who she is, and these Nike's may to many people be just a simple sneaker, but to her they represent her embracing a new world, where she can be free, and in her own words 'they make me who I am'.
