I recently met fellow Brit Rich and quickly learnt 2 things.  1) As a brand designer he is a man of talent, and 2), when it comes to sneaker shopping he is a man of conviction.

He knows what he likes, and in his white Spring Court B2 White Mid Cuts he has found a shoe that is so right for him that when it's time to replace them he confidently orders the same shoe, in the same size without hesitation.

I have to say that I agree with Rich, and as a fan of the brand feel that no wardrobe should be withouth a pair of Spring Courts, so if you're of the same opinion check out the brand here.

Vans x Cons; Sydney

Rick and Ash are both shoe lovers, and both rock a great look that caught my eye down by Sydney's International Ferry Terminal.
Rick is a big Vans fan with about 8 pairs in his collection of differing colours.
Colour is a key concern for Ash, who as a Presenter on the music show The Loop, likes her shoes loud and proud, and regardless of whether she's wearing the Vans or Cons in her collection colour is always a key concern.
Something they share in common is their love of customising, as both are seen here rocking Mr Lacy laces as an upgrade to their kicks, giving them each the chance to add their own twist to their outfits.

Matt's Bulging Vans; Sydney

Matt is a Sydney based DJ who I spotted one rainy morning in the CBD.  He was on his way to the markets, in an outfit that he had indadvertedly put together with an intriguing level of co-ordination.

As always on IDYSM footwear is integral to the look, and these bulging Vans are his new shoe of choice to help deal with his broad feet.

Matt used to be an avid Cons wearer, but after making the leap to Vans finds more comfort, value for money and choice in his new adopted brand that he rocks for any occasion and outfit (something to bear in mind if you like Matt have wide feet!).

TOMS Australian Launch Party; Sydney

 

Finding brands that fuse quality product with an ethical model is always great, and the footwear and eyewear brand TOMS lead the way as they literally offer something for everyone.
The brand was founded by Blake Mycoskie who started TOMS after being inspired by the simple Argentinian 'alpargata' shoe.  He set about creating his own range of simple shoes, but with a twist; each TOMS purchase would see a new pair of shoes go to a child in need.  The brand also operate a similar model with their eyewear, with each pair of sunglasses purchased allowing eyecare to be offered to someone in need too.
It's an admirable business model that has seen the brand catch on around the world, and earlier this week the fantastic Bondi Hardware bar staged a party for the brand's Australian launch.

James; Sydney

Clearly a man of style and satorial elegance, James is a stylist for hirsute publication Manuscript.

The publication celebrates design, fashion and forward thinking, so it's no surprise that James mirrors these traits with an immaculate appearance that represents what he calls 'tailored sportswear'.

He sourced these Prada Fall Winter 2011/12 Brogue Espadrilles Creepers after styling a shoot that featured them, and after claiming that he changes his look every day I'm glad I was lucky enough to bump into him on a day where he was wearing this eye-catching footwear.

Local FC; Sydney

As a a HUGE football fan, I was very excited to see the world game become local recently with the inaugural Sydney 'Local FC' tournament.  The football loving collective shares an appreciation of the core values of the beautiful game, and last weekend they took to the pitch to show their skills with the first ever tournament in Redfern, Sydney.  A number of stylish teams were present from the likes of Vanishing Elephant, Nike, Havianas (and more) and needless to say the skills on the pitch, and the footwear on display was equally stylish.

A big thanks to Huw for the invite, and congrats to Team Vanishing Elephant for being crowned the winners at the final whistle.

I put together this short video of the day, and thanks to Tamron and Lensbaby for the loan of some great new kit to play around with.

Say Hello To...Sweaty Betty PR

In the latest of my 'Say Hello To' series, I was lucky enough to see the great gals from 'Sweaty Betty PR' put their best foot forward and show of their fave kicks for IDYSM.
The company has a great portfolio of brands including Converse, Puma, Keds, Toms and Levis, many of which you will have seen on here over the years, and I hope you continue to see in the future.
A big thanks to the girls for posing and showing off some great product - lets face it, all bases are covered with some great kicks for the summer on show.

Polly x Comme Des Garcons Play Converse; Sydney

As many of you know I work in the TV industry, and I currently have the pleasure of working with Polly whose Converse x Comme Des Garcon All Stars light up the office.

She's been rocking the shoes since early 2012, but has been an avid Connies wearer since grade 8 at school and since then has nurtured a family of shoes from the brand. She is looking to expand though and with an upcoming trip to NY looming she's planning to add some hot Kenzo x Vans to her collection.

Regardless of the brand all shoes in her collection are well looked after by Polly, as Family is very important to her.  This is also illustrated by her cute tattoo which represents her mum and brother whose first names begin with A, and her dad and sister whose name's begin with B.

Neuw Denim Sydney 'Service' Store Launch Party

 

  

 

  

Up there with needing great footwear, having quality denim is another must have for any wardrobe of note.

I have been lucky enough to get to know the Melbourne brand Neuw quite well over the past few years, and I was delighted to shoot the launch party for the brand's first Sydney store titled 'Service'.

The event brought out Sydney's cool cats for a great night, and it was a great cause for celebration with the evening toasting the official launch of a store dedicated to one of my favourite brands (honestly -  times out of 10 I will be wearing the brand's great product).

Jonny; Sydney

As he was in in a hurry to join his mates for an afternoon beer, my meeting with Jonny was quick.
It was long enough to find out that he's a big sneaker fan though, with these Vans dragged out of storage for some sunshine and afternoon fun.
It's a simple look to start the day with; simple, street influenced and clean, but who knows what happened later, it could have all gone messy.
