My Shoes; Hong Kong

I spend a lot of time focusing on what you guys wear on your feet, but I do get asked all the time what I wear, so I thought I’d share what I’ve been wearing for my time in Hong Kong.
I should admit that I’m a terribly indecisive packer so this may seem like a lot for what was essentially quite a short trip, but trust me, each shoe was carefully chosen for a specific role during my time travelling.

PF Flyers Centre Core Lo
These PF Flyers plimsolls may look pretty basic, but they are so comfortable they have been my 'go-to' comfort shoe over the past few months.  You may not see too much of this brand, but their product is great.  It's simple, easy to wear, and makes a great travel shoe for long flights.

New Balance 576; Lake District Pack
OK, I don’t love these shoes, I LOVE them!  I've always had a soft spot for this UK made NB pack since it's 2011 release, and the shoes don't just look great, but are also comfortable enough to keep me going through a full day of street shooting, and slick enough to be work in the evening afterwards.

Clae Ellington
The dressiest shoe option that I packed, these smart Clae Ellington’s were worn for a few meetings and swanky resturant visits…come on, it can’t all be work, work, work!

Nike Free Run 2
Lightweight and easy to pack, these Nike’s were packed for exercise purposes.  They were used once, exercise did not really feature on the schedule as much as I initially feared.

Puma x Alexander McQueen Deck Mid - Brown Marmot Leather
It wouldn’t have been much of a trip if I hadn’t come home without any new additions to my collection, and I picked up these great shoes from the Puma x Alexander McQueen collab range, an apt reminder of HK due to the amount of interesting collabs and Premium labels that are on display on every street.

Morgan; Hong Kong

Originally from Australia, Morgan has been living in Hong Kong, and despite not being a sneaker wearer, recent events have made her a huge fan, and regular wearer of the Nike Free.
Conventionally she would only usually consider wearing Vans or Cons in public; lo fi shoes in subtle colouring that would go with her street style.
However, Morgan is a Yoga teacher and a recent ankle injury has caused her to wear the above Nike Free's as part of her rehab, a move that has caused her to completely rethink her sneaker strategy.
These shoes may be a different style and much brighter colourway than Morgan would ordinarily wear outside of a gym, but they've been so helpful in helping the muscles in her feet overcome the injury they've become her go to shoes, representing something of transformation in her shoe style.
I love this story as for those of you that know me will realise it mirrors my own use of the Free to help me overcome my own ankle injuries, so I am with Morgan on this and a fan of the Free.
If you havent checked them out yet, then head to Crooked Tongues right now!

2012 Nike Free Run +3

As some of you will know, my passion for kicks doesn't just come from a style perspective, it's also been influenced by the experiences I have had in life.
During my 20's I was forced to undergo some pretty full on treatment for some sports injuries, and after some pretty gruesome operations, (3x ankle reconstructions and the removal of a bone tumor from my knee) achieving the mobility I had lost for nearly a decade was not easy.
One of the turning points in my rehabilitation was the introduction of the Nike Free shoe.  From analysis of barefoot running, the shoe is designed to build strength in your feet, and for me, it helped enormously.

After loving the 2010 Nike Free 5.0 and the 2011 Nike Free Run 2, it's time to welcome the newest and brightest Free shoe to the range in the 2012 Nike Free Run +3.
This highly popular shoe embodies freedom to millions of people around the world so check out my short video previewing the latest and greatest shoe that can help give your feet the free feel that they've been dreaming of!
