Local FC 2013

Local FC is the brainchild of Chad Gibson, a hugely passionate soccer fan who feels the beautiful game has the power to bring us all together.
Chad's had a lifelong relationship with the game, and knows more about it than most having been born into the sport and reaching dizzying heights as a player, but by his own admission he's never loved the game more than he does now, and in Local FC he's sharing his passion with Sydney in the 2nd Local FC Tournament.
Huw Bennett (of Vanishing Elephant) and Gabe Knowles have teamed up with Chad in an epic 0-0-3 formation to make this year's even bigger and better than last years, in a Cup day that celebrates sport and bringing people together in the best possible way, by bringing people together regardless of the team's they support or boots they wear.
This weekend see's the tournament return, so check out this little ad I put together for Chad, Huw and Gabe who have put the event together and show your love for Local FC right now by heading to the project's site here, and if you're heading to the tournament I hope to see you there.

Keep an eye out for Local FC, in addition to the Cup, and ongoing work on Chad's website the boys are also putting together some great podcasts too (check it out here).

Marcelo; Sydney

Marcelo had travelled from Brazil to Sydney for last week's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, and with him had brought his own look, and approach to style.
His colourful look was finished off with the pink chequerboard Gola shoes you can see above, a pair of shoes which he claims are vintage, but he has had for some time.
Basically Marcelo throws nothing away, so he is ready for any fashion cycles to come back around as he has kept everything he has owned since the age of 10!
While his look is a lot bolder than something I would go for
, I loved his approach of being not so much a rampant consumer, but moreso a hoarder and collector which is pretty refreshing in this day and age.

Gregory; Melbourne

Melbourne is renowned for many things, and to many it’s known as the cosmopolitan and cultural epicentre of Australian style, something that Gregory is helping to add some International flavour to.
Originally from Brazil Gregory is a dancer now based in Melbourne and I bumped into him when he was on his way to his Yoga class.
Something else Melbourne is renowned for is a fascination with wearing the colour black, but Gregory insists his monochrome look is not merely Melbourne inspired, simply his own look which fuses his own influences from his travels around the world.
Of course, his shoes link into this story as his all black All Stars were picked up in Buenos Aires in Argentina when he was looking for some black, cotton based footwear and these shoes have been in his collection for a few years now, which showcases some great care from him in keeping his shoes looking still pretty fresh.
An ‘All Star’ in his own right, Gregory not only dances countless styles but also shoots photography too, and in everything he does he loves contrast so expect to see more of him in monochrome outfits as he chasse his way along the streets of Melbourne.

Brasilia; Sydney

Originally from Brasilia this sneaker lover is on holiday in Sydney and he picked up these colourful Puma 917s only a few weeks ago.
He has found the sneaker scene very different in Australia to that of his home country, with newer styles available earlier and more colourways to choose from, and he has embraced the change with these eye-catching shoes.
