Mitchell; Sydney

Mitch is a huge skate fan.  He skates anything, every day whether it be in a pool, on a street or down a rail, and with skate opportunities popping up at any time Mitch always ensures he is ready with some solid skate kicks.
This shoe is a collab between 2 skating powerhouses, as Spitfire (arguably the skate game's best wheel brand) and Vans teamed up to turn out these TNT 5's, which is the fifth Vans Pro shoe from skater Tony Trujillo.
The shoe combines the support and comfort Mitch strives for in a silhouette and design that he feels has more support, comfort and cred than your more common-placed Vans shoes.
Interesting guy with a clear passion for skating and shoes - cheers Mitchell.

If you are in the market for some new Vans, check out the great range at Crooked Tongues here.

Friday Night Dancing Shoes; Sydney

I get lured off the street to shoot and cover a lot of events these days, and for the past few Fridays I've been snapping away at the Asahi Biennale parties in Sydney.
The evenings celebrate the Biennale with art installations, bars, food, entertainment and great people, so all up it's a lot of fun.
It all takes place at Pier 1/2 at Walsh Bay, and with tomorrow night being the last one, come along and check it out.

Merrell M Connect Launch Party; Sydney

Last night saw all encompassing brand Merrell launch a new chapter in their all-conquering history with the launch of 'M-Connect', a collection of minimalist inspired footwear and apparel.
Designed to connect you to your world outside, the timing of the collection is perfect to coincide with the imminent start of summer, and there was a summery-party vibe for all in attendance at the fantastic Museum of Contemporary Art with dancers showcasing the product in action, courtesy of routines choreographed by Jason Coleman.

Say Hello to ...ARC Factory; Sydney

In this new series for IDYSM I'm going to take a look at the faces behind some of my favourite companies.
I get to meet and deal with some great people through IDYSM, and in Sydney one of my favourite companies to work with are the fantastic ARC Factory so it was very apt that they were first in for this new 'Say Hello To' feature.
They have been supporters of my work since the early days of IDYSM and it's always a pleasure to work with them and the great brands they represent (including G Star, Bonds, Oakley and Politix).
Above are some pics I shot when invited to ARC HQ to meet some of the most colourful characters at the company - so enjoy, and thanks to ARC, and stick around as I'll be bringing you another instalment in my 'Say Hello To' series soon.

Native Preview

Fun!  Thats the first word that springs to mind when looking at this preview from Canadian footwear brand Native.
In a short space of time the brand has blown up in a big way with their colourful twists on footwear classics, and they show no sign of slowing up with their range for next season (images showcase product available from Feb 2013)
Kids and adults are both catered for in an evolving range of product that see's a play on some classic silhouettes (including All-Stars, Era's, Sperry's and even Birkenstocks to name a few) that have all been given the trademark Native treatment that is guaranteed to have you and your feet smiling once the weather hots up!

Jaiden; Sydney

Ever wondered what fusing punk and 50s influences might look like?, if you have then take a look at Jaiden whose look is inspired by these 2 areas.
A huge Vans Authentic fan, he finds the shoe is ideal for finishing off his look and straddling the raw edginess of pink, with the refined and decisive styling of the 50's.

And if you like Authentic's, check out Crooked Tongues selection of the silhouette here

Stuart & Tyler; Sydney

I spotted Stuart and Tyler as they headed out to get haircuts together in the middle of Sydney one weekend.
They are a couple, but each have a very different approach to style that they are adamant has no crossover to each other.
Stuart like many (make that MANY) is a serial Vans wearer, opting for the Era as his style of choice in a variety of colours that ties up with his edgey/preppy look well.
As for Tyler his look is more alternative and is summed up well in his choice of shoes that combines Dr Martens with Creepers like those seen above.
I guess Paula Abdul was on to something when she said 'Opposites Attract'.

Clae Preview

Quality product is something I'm always interested in, and when it's buddied up with a well thought out range and a fantastic company philosophy there's no holding back, I'm in!
Clae are a brand that achieve all of the above, and when I was invited to a recent preview showing of product for next season (with product available from Feb 2013 for the Australian Winter) it was easy to see why they ranked #2 in Complex's Top 25 Independent Sneaker Brands.
The brand is dedicated to having a select range of carefully chosen silhouettes and colourways fusing quality product with sophisticated design.  Attention to detail is paramount with Premium materials and a top grade finish given to each product in their well considered range that has something to cater for all tastes.  I'm a fan, and I hope you are too so please check it out!

G Star Atelier

When looking at the cornerstones of street style and contemporary fashion everyone knows that having great denim is vital to any wardrobe.
I've worked with a few fantastic denim brands since starting IDYSM, and I was delighted to recently be invited to take part in the exclusive G Star RAW Tailored Atelier service.
The service was open to select friends of the brand who were each given the chance to take the classic G Star 3301 silhouette and have it tailored to their fit and look.
I was lucky enough to be invited to get my own pair made up, and you can share in the experience with  the above shots and video.
A big thanks to G Star and Douglas the Atelier.  Enjoy!
