Max is a key figure in the sneaker game, not just in France but Internationally as he's the brains behind the fantastic sneaker publication 'Le Closet'.
We caught up in Paris, and despite his mild mannered and incredibly friendly demeanour he is fiercely knowledgable about the sneaker game, so there was never any doubt that he was going to be rocking special kicks, et voila, check out these amazing adidas x Undercrown Gil Zero Low's from the 'Believe in Five' pack.
An adidas x Undercrown collaboration, the shoes were part of a special project made by adidas performance as colourful and eye-catching basketball shoes for their former NBA player Gilbert Arenas.
In Max's words, 'Gilbert is known for being a sneakerfiend' so the guys at adidas suggested a special shoe for him made in conjunction with designer Dustin Canalin from Undercrown.
The shoes were given to Max by some friends at Parisian store Black Rainbow, and apart from being amazing kicks with their own story, they're also intrinsically linked with Max's own story.
Max loves the shoes as he is a big adidas fan, and also specifically loves the design of this shoe which uses a tribal pattern that the adidas Mutombos had in the 90's. Max is a HUGE fan of Mutombo as both he and the shoe's namesake Dikembe Mutumbo are Congolese, and the player was a key figure representing Africa in the NBA.
He landed the shoes in 2006, a time when it was far less common to see special edition performance footwear, and the rarity continues with the pink colourway which for 2006 was pretty out there.
All up, a great shoe story from a great guy, thanks Max.
