Chris x Nike Air Max 90; London

The classic backdrop of London's Liverpool Street Train station met the equally eye-catching sight of some Nike Air Max 90's when I met Chris.
The iconic meeting of these 2 entities didn't last long though as he was in a hurry.  However, we had enough time for me to find out that he is originally from Poland, and over the years has developed a specific taste for Nike Air Max and Jordans, and this taste that has translated well for his move to the UK as he deems both countries to have a similar scene.
That was it, his girlfriend then arrived and whisked him away with the parting words; 'We're going to Spitalfields Market and you can't complain today'.
He may have been getting ear ache all afternoon, but at least his feet were comfortable.

Pins Exhibition Film

It's something of a Pins-extravaganza here on IDYSM this week as after yesterday's streetsnaps of the talented, sneaker loving London artist today it's time for the Premiere of a video I made all about him.
Shot at his solo exhibition on London's Dover St, Pins' work showcases a fascinating social commentary in bright pop art colouring, and his unique style is seeing him become hot property in the International art world.
We chatted about his work as he showed me some select pieces and also revealed some of his inspirations, including his lifelong passion for tea, donuts and Nike Air Max...the shoe 'with the beautiful bubble'.

Michael Corbett, Nike x APC; Sydney

As the brains behind Warner Music's digital content, Michael and I met through the fantastic recent 'In Their Shoes' charity campaign (you may remember him from this recent interview on IDYSM).
I couldn't let him drop talk of his A.P.C. x Nike Air Maxim 1's in the interview without checking them out in person, so he was kind enough to spare some time for a quick shoot, and chat.
Michael's life is immersed in music (as you can see from his array of music related tats, and the fantastic music blog he run's; Cool Accidents).  Quite simply, music is something he celebrates with amazing knowledge and passion, and his work with 'In Their Shoes' shows that it's not just selfless talk, he's actually looking to use music to share stories and help others - amazing!
Another passion of his is sneakers, and after all the work he did on helping others with In Their Shoes (it ended up raising tens of thousands of dollars for worthy causes so a big thanks to everyone who bidded for the customised shoes) he decided to also treat himself to some A List kicks of his own.
Clean, simple, sophisticated, the fantastic A.P.C. x Nike kicks hit all the right notes (like pretty much everything from A.P.C.), so expect to see Michael rocking them through the many exciting activities that lie ahead with Cool Accidents, and with A.P.C.'s Guitar and Dagger emblem on the insole, they are truly rock and roll through and through.

Tania, Nike Air Max Glow Pack; Sydney

Say hi to the uber talented and super lovely Tania.  Not content with being a PR whizz behind some amazing brands and campaigns, she's also the person behind the amazing Instagram series called 'The Writing' (@thewriting).  

Her immaculately presented and thoughtfully composed daily thought pieces are becoming an International sensation with the likes of The New York Times, Garance Dore, model Lara Bingle, Diddy and Marc Jacobs (amongst many, many others) all gushing over Tania's monochrome musings.

And it seem's that Tania's obsession with making bold monochrome statements also translates to her wardrobe too.

Dressed in black and white, her chic and clean outfit was punctuated with some bright white Nike Air Max from the 'Glow' Collection.  

The shoes also may look inconspicuous enough at first glance, but when you look again, there's more to them than meet's the eye as at night glow in the dark elements come alive.

Much like Tania's daily offerings on The Writing they may look simply chic and elegant at quick glance, when you look deeper there's something hidden within them.

Shoes that represent their owner; the writing's on the wall with this one.

Roadtest; Nike Air Max 90 EM Tokyo

The latest in my 'Roadtest' series, I checked out the Nike Air Max 90 EM Tokyo.

The chic colourway fused with the Engineered Mesh technology gives the shoe a distinct look, one that's emphasised further by the glow in the dark heel detail, something that inspired me to showcase the shoe in a mixture of lighting set ups.

Roadtest; Nike Air Max+ 2013

Welcome to the latest in my 'Roadtest' series where I get up close and personal with some great new Nike product in this short video.
In this instalment I put the Nike Air Max+ 2013 through it's paces.  As a performance shoe that also offers some streetwear clout, this shoe will appeal to different people for different reasons.
Since Tinker Hatfield paved the way with the first Air Max back in '87 the shoe has come a long way, and this latest incarnation has some serious swagger with style and comfort balanced with a pricepoint that won't see you breaking the bank for a shoe that holds a worthy place in this iconic's shoe's history.

Nike Air Max Engineered Mesh Pack; Preview

For those of you that follow IDYSM’s Facebook page you will have seen some recent images from the new Air Max collection that has just dropped in Australia.

Combining classic Air Max Silhouettes with Nike Engineered Mesh the Air Max 1, 90, 95 and 97 have all been revamped with a lighter, leaner and more flexible design that ever before for the Nike Air Max Engineered Mesh Pack.

The pack has had the sneakerheads talking - especially about the Air Max 95 version that see's the original graduated paneling on the upper revamped with a one tone upper, but thats what engineering does - refines, and intends to improve, which doesn't always please everyone.
My pick are the Air Max 1's, but the range should have something for everyone as you can see from the pics above taken after Nike were kind enough to send the kicks my way to shoot.

Sneaker Freaker Swap Meet; Melbourne

The Sneaker Freaker swap meet provides an exciting opportunity for sneaker lovers and urban stylistas to get together and share a passion for everything street.
Last week saw a Melbourne meet as part of the Carbon Festival and I was at hand to see what was going on as well as speak to Sneaker Freaker Founder and top bloke Woody, co-owner of the fantastic Melbourne Up There Store Brendan, as well as some great sneakerheads to find out about the event and how sneakers are bringing people together.


Music; Hey boy by Nicolas Jaar

HIT'M; Melbourne

James (left), Junior (middle) and Chris (right) are all members of Melbourne's HIT'M Krumping crew.

HIT'M is a collective designed to spread the word about Krumping, and without realising it the guys are also spreading the word about some serious sneaker loving too.

James is a Nike die-hard, and even works for the brand at one of their Melbourne stores.  However, when it came to picking up some shoes recently he decided to mix things up when he saw a great deal for some red hot A Lifes.

Junior is another Nike fan whose collection is split between Air Max and Jordan shoes.

Chris's Air Flighr's are his favourite shoes from his collection and only wears them rarely. He picked them up from a Melbourne market where they were being sold without the owner knowing their true value, so he hussled and got them for a knockdown price. 

All up, they were great guys and if their dance moves are as fresh as their shoes I'm sure they will go far!

Struck by the Max; Sydney

Long hours and being on your feet all day means that working in retail can be hard work.  That doesn't mean to say that it can't be done with some fun though.

Spotted on a Sales Assistant in the SP1 store at The Galeries Victoria in Sydney were these Air Max 1 Atmos shoes.  The owner told me that the shoes were released in 2007 as part of a 'Quickstruck release', which means that Nike only sold the shoes through selected stores for a limited time.  Needless to say these are rare shoes which in turn are rarely worn by their owner.

So it goes to show you, if you shop around, you can find some interesting shoes out there.
