City 2 Surf; Sydney

The masses descended on Sydney yesterday all sharing one kind of footwear; sneakers!
Yes, it's time to look at sports footwear today as the City 2 Surf saw 85,000 enthusiastic runners take on gruelling yet scenic 14km trek from the Sydney city to Bondi Beach attracted 85,000 runners.
I was at the finish line to check out all the action, all the ages, and all the brands and it was easy to see that this event is really a melting pot that see's everyone brought together.
A big congrats to everyone who took part, and I'm hoping you're not too sore after all your exertions.  I would have loved to join you but taking pics is a bit easier!

Roadtest; Saucony Shadow Original

Ah, the classics, getting better with age and offering timeless style for the ages, and I think the Saucony Shadow Classic definitely falls into that category.
I was given the chance to give the show the Roadtest treatment and thought it was only fitting to give the shoe the true classic's treatment with this black and white homage.
The shoe rates well - style, well come on look at it, it's great, as is comfort, the only downside is price which is probably a little pricier than other shoes in it's field (I'm thinking the New Balance 574) but don't let that put you off as if you can afford a few extra dollars adding a pair of classic Saucony will definitely have you stepping out of the shadows.

2012 - The Sole of the Street

It's back to business as normal next week as we resume IDYSM's first ever Hong Kong season - there's some great stuff coming up so don't miss it!
To finish off this week's retrospective of 2012 though I thought I would share some of my reportage work.
As a huge street photography fan, I love documenting and looking out for those unique sights and moments that happen all around us.  It's something that influences my work greatly, and has become a cornerstone of my style influencing everything I shoot, from street shots, to parties, events, lookbooks, and more.
Here's some of my picks from 2012 - enjoy, and I'll see you on Monday, rested and raring to go for a great 2013!

Sneaker Freaker Swap Meet; Melbourne

The Sneaker Freaker swap meet provides an exciting opportunity for sneaker lovers and urban stylistas to get together and share a passion for everything street.
Last week saw a Melbourne meet as part of the Carbon Festival and I was at hand to see what was going on as well as speak to Sneaker Freaker Founder and top bloke Woody, co-owner of the fantastic Melbourne Up There Store Brendan, as well as some great sneakerheads to find out about the event and how sneakers are bringing people together.

Ryoma's Rare Reeboks; Sydney

Ryoma is from Japan and moved to Sydney only a week and a half ago.  He bought a generous selection of 6 pairs of shoes with him for his time in Australia studying English (with brands including some New Balance, Saucony, Puma and Reebok).
These specific shoes are just a week old and offer some eye-catching colour and retro style to Sydney's streets.  A self-confessed colour addict Ryoma has an eclectic look and these shoes wrap up his look perfectly.
The Reebok Insta Pump Fury x Atmos Japan 'Tokyo' are a Japanese 2011 release so this is rather rare shoe sighting that I don't expect to see too often outside of Japan.
Thanks for sharing Ryoma1
